the purpose of this survey is to get your input and opinions on various foundational elements of balvida, including the design of the tiny houses, the community itself and your personal involvement. there's no wrong answers and there's no pressure to answer everything now. please feel free to hit me up anytime outside of this with feedback, questions, anything!

thank you for your time and energy

the tiny houses

how do you see yourself potentially using your tiny house? (choose any that apply)
what are your thoughts on ownership of a tiny house?
which one of these aspects is most important to you in a tiny house?
what are your top 3 choices out of this list to have in your tiny house?

the tiny house is a 2 (king-sized) bedroom base model with 1 large bathroom. the downstairs bedroom is king-sized. the upstairs bedroom is an even bigger room with a balcony. in addition to the kitchen and living room, there is an extended roof covering the front porch, which can be used as an outdoor living room in keeping with the costa rican tradition of existing in nature.

it is designed for easy modification

--the indoor portion of the living room can be turned into a 3rd moderate (queen/full) bedroom.

--the upstairs loft bedroom can be made smaller, to fit a 2nd small bathroom

--the upstairs loft can be divided into 2 small bedrooms

which model are you most likely interested in?

communal spaces

these are the currently-planned community resources and amenities for balvida--

3 communal kitchens, 2 laundry rooms, 2 pools, gym, sauna, library, theatre room, studio workshop, children's space, spiritual practice (yoga/meditation) space, gardens, greenhouse, teaching space, and 2 guest houses

any thoughts on these spaces? are there other spaces/functions you'd like to see here? what tools would help you in your work, hobbies, passions, life, dreams?

how do you feel about parts of balvida being open to the local community of women during certain days/times for small events, workshops, classes?

how do you feel about a labor-sharing model where all residents commit to a certain amount of hours to caring for the land & spaces of balvida instead of hiring staff to do so?

how do you feel about designating certain spaces as women-only on certain times/days?
how do you feel about a community-based approval process to add new adult residents* (this isn’t for temporary guests, but people who plan to live & have resident use/rights at balvida)
how would you feel about gender-based parameters for non-personal use of tiny houses (so, if someone were to decide to use their tiny house as a vacation rental or let friends stay extended periods without them, agreeing to limit those guests to women)

a part of my specific goals with balvida is showcasing an example of women-centered living to women from around the world-- both as guests at our physical location but also thru a cultivated digital, social, and multi media presence. i want women to experience and engage balvida and leave feeling inspired to practice more women-centered living in their own lives and even establish similar communities.

it's my hope that at least some of the women living at balvida would be interested in helping with this goal, either thru direct public-facing engagement (this could look many ways-- interviews, podcasts, being on social media, hosting, making your own balvida-related content, being an ambassador for balvida, etc) -- or, if interacting with the public isnt for you, maybe thru support work like contributing specific skills you have to the betterment of balvida and providing great experiences for our visitors from near and afar.

how do you feel about participating in public-facing aspects of balvida to help raise awareness on women-centered living?
